March 30th Blog Post

The Lutheran Home Communities are SO excited that the month of March has arrived. We are all looking forward to daylight savings time, St. Patrick’s Day, the first day of spring, and of course- EASTER!

The final week of March was a fun one at the Vinton Lutheran Home. Our residents enjoyed a large balloon volleyball match as the Memory Care residents teamed up against the Nursing Facility residents. Both teams played hard! At one point, the balloon flew through the air for 6 minutes before it touched the ground!!

And speaking of flying through the air, the robins and red winged black birds are back in Iowa to stay! The Vinton residents enjoyed making these friendly flyers some pine cone bird feeders this week. Messy fun was had by all as pine cones were smothered in peanut butter and rolled in bird seed. A ribbon was tied around each completed pine cone and hung from the tree in front of the dining room windows. The residents have enjoyed watching the birds munch on them!!

Spring fever has struck at the Davenport Lutheran Home. And everyone has had a song in their heart this week. Zach Warm, Maintenance Department, shared his music with the Davenport residents- who greatly enjoyed it!!
